ANASTASIA VATOPOULOU MD , PhD, IFEPAG
Anastasia Vatopoulou is Assistant Professor at the Gynecology & Obstetrics Department of University of Ioannina, Greece , and the head of Pediatric and Adolescent clinic in a busy teaching hospital. The Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology unit in University of Ioannina is an approved training center from FIGIJ.
Her training in PAG started in Athens after which she was granted the IFEPAG fellowship in Hong Kong and continued in London at UCLH . She is working actively for the last 15 years to establish a comprehensive gynecological care for female children and adolescents in Northern Greece .
She is academically active in research and teaching .The subject of her PhD thesis was the effects of HPV vaccine on sexual behavior of adolescent and young women. Her primary interests are contraception, STDs and FGM.
Anastasia has been Secretary General of the European Association of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (EURAPAG ) from 2022 until June 2024 and the president of Eurapag congress in 2024 in Thessaloniki, Greece.
She has organized Greek congresses on PAG and has participated in several congresses, meetings and workshops with lectures, oral presentations and as a member of panels on this subject in Greece and Europe.
She has been International representative in NASPAG in 2019-2020.
She has several publications ,chapters in books and is a reviewer of journals in the field.
Anastasia is very active in spreading the principles of PAG to improve the reproductive health care of children and adolescents through everyday clinical practice , teaching of younger physicians and participating in active research and administrative tasks called by her membership in PAG associations.
She organized and she is responsible for a dedicated clinical care team for women who have undergone FGM .
